Photograph something soft.
A cozy blanket. A pet's fur. A soft sweater. A feather. The petals of a flower.
Then ask yourself: Where do I need gentleness?
Practicing the presence is about becoming more aware of God in our everyday lives. Sometimes that means noticing the ways God cares for us, and sometimes it means recognizing the places where we need his care.
We can be pretty hard on ourselves. We expect a lot, push through when we're tired, or criticize ourselves when things don't go as planned.
But Jesus invites us to come to him when we are weary, and reminds us that he is gentle and humble in heart (Matthew 11:28–29).
As you photograph something soft today, consider where you might need a little more gentleness. Maybe with yourself, with someone else, or with a situation that hasn't turned out as you hoped.
I wonder what it would look like to receive God's gentleness in that place today?
